U17 Trials

U19 and U21 Development TrialsÂ
Netball Northern Ireland welcome nominations from schools, clubs and individuals to attend trials for the U19 and U21 Squad for the 2022-23 season.

The closing date for nominations is 4pm on Tuesday 25th October.
Trial date: Saturday 29th October
Time: 9.30am – 2.30pm (note the finish time may vary depending on the numbers registered)
Venue: Ulster University, Jordanstown (Sports Hall 1)
Eligibility requirements :Â
Netballers must be under 21 and over 16 years of age as of 31 December 2022 (ie born in 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005)
Netballers must not be currently on another Netball NI Performance Programme (ie if you are already involved in an U17 or Warriors programme, you should not register to trial)
Netballers must meet the eligibility requirements as listed here – Play for Northern Ireland
If you are already away at university and can not attend on the 29th October, please email Julie-Anne (performanceadmin@netballni.org) to request to be seen at another time.
Time and Financial commitment – TRIALS
Trial fee: £10+booking fee (note this is non-refundable)
Saturday 29 October
9am – Registration opens
9.30-2.30pm – Trials (match play – netballers will be seen in one or both playing positions)
Venue: Sports Hall 1, Ulster University, Jordanstown
Time and Financial commitment – SQUAD
Netballers selected onto the U21 Development squad will be required to be available for weekend training sessions, and mid week training sessions between November – April (dates TBC); as well as contribute £200 towards training costs and participate in fundraising initiatives. It is assumed that netballers signing up for trials agree to meet this commitment.
An U21 competition squad will be selected at trials in January 2023. It is anticipated that this group will include netballers outside of the U21 and U19 Development Squad

How to register :
Schools and clubs may nominate up to 7 netballers who they feel meet the required standard to represent Northern Ireland at international level below. Schools and clubs may also ask netballers to register individually
Ensure you have a valid email address entered when you register – we will send out any additional information prior to your session to this address

Can I change my trial session date or time?
No – with the numbers registered we can not accommodate swaps. If you can not attend, please email Julie-Anne (performanceadmin@netballni.org) to be seen at another date.
What should I wear and bring with me?
Wear your normal netball training gear – trainers, skirt or shorts or leggings and a tshirt or vest top, whatever makes you most comfortable. Bring plenty of water and layers to wear for when you are not on court or playing in matches.

When will I find out the outcome of trials?
Information will be sent out via email to nominating schools and clubs, and posted on the U21 website within 3 days of the trial date.
Note – given the volume of netballers trialling, it will not be possible to give individual feedback to netballers.
