U21 National Squad
A massive congratulations to our U21s on their recent silver medal at the European Championships – this was a fantastic return to international netball after such a long break and the disappointment of the World Youth Cup being cancelled.
The NI U21s played with composure to take a 4 goal win in their opening contest against Wales on Friday 12 November, then took on a strong England side on Saturday. Whilst England came away with the victory, all 12 Northern Ireland athletes took the court, including 9 new U21 caps. In the final match up against hosts, Isle of Man on Sunday the U21 team ran out eventual winners to secure the 2021 European U21 silver medal.
Congratulations to all our new U21 caps, the management team, and to all the U21 squad; and our thanks to all the friends and family, the Mary Peters Trust, Activefeet Podiatry, PC Atutos/Collision Belfast and the Gordon Group for their sponsorship and supporting the group’s fundraising. This squad now takes a break over the Christmas period, with NI based squad members engaging in weekly S&C training around club training. Further competition opportunities will arise in 2022.
