The Development Academies are the first stepping stone into the Northern Ireland Performance Pathway. We have 2 groups – Development Academy (generally 12-13 year olds) and Future Internationals (14-15 year olds). The purpose of these squads are to focus on the individual skill development of our netballers to better prepare them to transition to the national squads at U17 level and beyond.

Preparation for Trials – Online Sessions

These sessions are open to all Junior members of Netball NI affiliated schools or clubs aged 11-19 and are led by Pathway Coaches and Emerging Warriors.

Work on netball skills that can be done individually in your own homes to reinforce basics, provide fitness and progress performance so you are better prepared to hit the court once we can resume pathway activity in the coming months.

We want to help and inspire you to continue training in your own time to improve your performance and help set good habits of a performance athlete.

Find out more details and register for the March block of online sessions here.

What about the club or school nominations for U15 Academy trials already submitted?

Thank you for the nominations already submitted for the Academy Training Weekends – we have collated this information to use once we are in a position to host the Academy Weekends when it is safe to do so. Please encourage the girls you have nominated to these weekends to sign up for the upcoming online training sessions.

Is there more information about on court training and trials?

Netball NI will continue to monitor the covid situation and work within the current NI Executive guidelines. We will communicate information to schools and clubs when we are in a position to return safely to court.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Julie-Anne ( or Noleen ( for more detail.

The Pathway Coaches have delivered 8 online sessions in February for netballers to focus on their footwork, fitness and ball handling skills – complete these sessions whenever you want!
