Warriors Head Coach Appointed

Netball NI are excited to announce, we have completed our recruitment process for the Warriors Head Coach and are thrilled to have appointed Sheonah Forbes to the role.

As we move forward with the recommendations from the Performance Review and build our High Performance and Performance Pathway programmes, Sheonah is perfect Head Coach to lead our performance team.

‘Sheonah really impressed at interview; she has excellent experience most recently as England Netball Pathways Head Coach, fulfilling both Head Coaching roles and developing the Future Roses programme.

Her professional, experienced background imbedded in High Performance will be invaluable to the Warriors with the ability to lead on culture and style of play of the group as a whole and individuals.’

Netball NI welcome Meg Wallace to the staff team as Performance Coordinator

Following a thorough recruitment process, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Meg Wallace to the Netball NI staff team in the new position of Performance Coordinator. The role has been created following our independent performance review with a significant remit to drive the structural and programme recommendations to build a sustainable, successful performance pathway for our NI athletes.

We are delighted to have Meg Wallace join the performance department in the role of Performance Coordinator.

Her varied experience across grass roots and performance coupled with her solid work ethic made her an excellent candidate for this role, and someone who has the initiative and willingness to drive the achievements from the recent Performance Review.

Meg will be leading the operational and logistic plans behind our performance pathway squads and programmes and be the first point of contact for coaches, team managers and parents.

I am looking forward to contributing to a new era of performance netball within Netball NI and driving the objectives of the performance pathway.

Meg will take up the position mid-July and as we welcome her to the staff team, we know our members will wish her well in role.

Given the timing in the World Netball major events calendar, Netball NI investment position with Sport NI and changes within the performance staff team, alongside not securing qualification for the World Cup, this was an opportune time to review not only the international competitions but to assess where NI are across the wider performance programme and infrastructure, seeking support to develop practical actions in line with resource and capacity that will best prepare us for moving forward.

Netball NI appointed Mel Mansfield –Former England player 1993-1998, Former Superleague HC, UKCC Level 3 coach, Director of Netball & Senior Lecturer at University of Hertfordshire, to complete the review on our behalf. Mel’s experience in pathway and performance netball programmes, coach mentoring and NSL technical specialist, made her an ideal candidate to provide a strategic and operational oversight of our position and make recommendations to enable progress.

30 + individual consultations were carried out including coaches (u13 club, pathway u13/15/17/21 and EM / Warriors coaches) Netball NI employed staff, club coaches, selectors, board members, performance staff (TM, PA, S&C) Combination of face to face and online. Warriors Player group (17 players) plus individual senior players.

Committed & Enthusiastic Board Member Wanted

In line with Board tenures and following a recent independent performance review that considered the programmes and infrastructure within the performance aspect of our business, Netball NI is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and forward-thinking person with specific skills, experience and knowledge relating to High Performance/Performance Pathway sporting programmes and environments to join its Board.

Netball NI is a limited company with charitable status with the Board supported by a team of fulltime and part time staff.

We are looking for an experienced individual to join the Board with strong critical thinking skills who can apply independent judgement to work effectively with other directors. The successful candidate would be required to help the operational team to implement and drive the recommendations from the performance review, ensuring the improved progression in the performance system.

We are committed to be a sector leading National Governing Body of sport in Northern Ireland and live our values of Respect, Equality, Accountability, Integrity, Professionalism, Remain passionate with a team first approach.

Board members positions are not remunerated but reasonable travel and subsistence expenses may be reimbursed.
