Netball NI is delighted to announce the appointment of David Irwin as our new Pathway Manager, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to nurturing talent across sport and sports teams.
With a sporting background spanning both domestic grassroots initiatives and performance
sport environments, David brings a blend of strategic insight and hands on expertise. David’s understanding of the coaching pathway, from volunteer coaches in community clubs to professional development at the elite level, positions him perfectly to work with our Warriors Head Coach, Sheonah Forbes, to lead and evolve our pathway systems.
A passionate advocate for people first leadership, David has exceptional communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders. His empathetic approach and proven track record in supporting individuals to reach their full potential will be instrumental in shaping inclusive and sustainable pathways for our athletes, coaches and officials.
Chief Executive, Karen Rollo-Stewart commented:
“We are thrilled to welcome David to the team. His experience across all levels of sport, particularly his insight into the coaching pathway, and his ability to connect with people make him an ideal fit for this role. We’re confident that his leadership will help us build on our inclusive and impactful pathway across our athlete and workforce community.”
Pathway Manager, David Irwin:
“I’m honoured to take on this role and support the current and future generations of netball talent; and look forward to working with everyone across the netball community. It’s an exciting time for the sport, and I’m looking forward to helping build a performance structure that drives long-term success for players, coaches and officials.”
