Thanks to S&C Coach Eoin McNicholl

  • Nov 25,2019

Netball NI would like to thank Eóin McNicholl for his contribution to the Northern Ireland national team and performance set up over the last 3 years. Eóin joined the Netball NI team in 2016 to lead the strength and conditioning for the NI senior team under then Head Coach, Elaine Rice, successfully preparing senior and upcoming netballers to an 8th place finish at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, a silver at the 2017 European Championships and securing qualification for the 2019 World Cup.

Elaine Rice said, "I thoroughly enjoyed working with Eoin. He was a real expert in his field who worked so hard to learn the game and apply his learning to develop great programmes which were very evident on the court and in the rankings. Knowing that area of the training was being expertly led, allowed me to confidently focus my attentions in other areas. His contribution to netball here as been huge and he will be greatly missed on a personal and professional level. I have no doubt he will be very successful in his next endeavours."

He continued to make a valuable impact at a performance level, using his experience of netball and other sports to continue challenging the performance standards of the senior squad; joining the team under Dan Ryan that travelled to the World Cup in summer 2019. Dan Ryan said, “Eoin has made a significant contribution to the senior program over the past few years, especially the last 18 months. He’s had such a positive impact on many of the athletes and taken the group to great heights. He’s incredibly well respected by all and we can’t thank him enough for all his hard work and passion.”

We appreciate the time (and miles!) that Eoin gave to the Northern Ireland netball team over the last 3 years and wish him all the best in the future.

Netball Northern Ireland will be advertising for an S&C Coach in the coming days.
