The UK School Games, now in it’s 13th year, is seen as an excellent opportunity for sports to give talented upcoming stars an experience of a major competition in a friendly, supportive environment. This legacy has been very positive with 56 of the 382 athletes, or 15 % of Team GB who competed at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio also competed at the School Games.

This is the first year that netball has been included in the School Games – and what a year on the back of England winning Gold at the recent Commonwealth Games, and Northern Ireland finishing the second highest ranked European team in 8th. It is a fantastic opportunity for our U15 Team to gain valuable exposure to the high performance environment this stage in their netball journey. A team from Scotland and 10 English regional or Superleague franchise teams make up the 12 competing netball teams.

The Northern Ireland squad has been selected from the 90 U15 Regional Academy netballers who have been working in our 5 Regional Academy squads this year. They will be coached by Andi Magee and Amy Stewart.

We wish them every success in their training and preparations in the run up to the event.
