Netball NI is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Causer (pictured) to the role of Club and Workforce Officer.  This role is supported by Sport NI and the National Lottery Programme.

Tom had this to say about his new appointment, “when I heard Netball NI were recruiting, immediately I thought I want to be part of this forward thinking organisation, continue to grow netball and ultimately play my part in achieving the vision:

‘Northern Ireland’s first choice sport for women and girls’

I am very excited to take up this role at Netball NI.  There were many factors that attracted me to the post including the strategic direction of the organisation, the recruitment of a new independent Board and the opportunity to join the dedicated team.  Netball is a great sport and has many unique selling points which I will look to harness of the coming years.  Netball appeals to all ages and experience levels with players from all types of background involved in the sport.  Netball is a very accessible sport and can bring many physical, mental and social benefits to our communities.”

Karen Rollo, Executive Manager for Netball NI commented on the new appointment, “Tom has a lot of experience working in National Governing Bodies, is very familiar with the sporting landscape in Northern Ireland, has a lot of knowledge particularly in people development and has a good relationship with our most important stakeholder.  We have more than doubled our membership over the last four years and our national senior team is ranked 10th in the world – our sport is definitely on the rise. We are confident that Tom possesses the expertise and passion to continue the growth of our sport at club level, improve the club offer/experience for new and existing members as well as increasing the pool of players for our Academies and National squads in the Performance Pathway.

Tom came into post in mid-July and will meet with Sport NI to discuss performance measures over the next four years as well as review existing strategies in place around club and workforce development.  Two of the key priorities in the first few months will be delivery of a UKCC Level 1 coaching course and an Umpire Grade C course.  If you are interested in any of these courses please contact Tom at clubandworkforce@netballni.org
